NRA Basic Pistol

This course provides a new shooter with a hands-on experience where the student will learn safe firearm handling, methods of operating different types of pistols, ammunition and its function, shooting fundamentals, firearms selection, cleaning and storage of firearms. This 10 hour course offers a solid base upon which a student can safely build their shooting skills and includes several hours of actual shooting time on the range. All course materials including firearms, ammunition and targets will be provided. A certificate of training will be awarded to all participants who successfully complete the course. Student/instructor ratio will be no more than 5:1.

Here are a few questions that can help you determine whether you will benefit from the class:

Can you explain why you should wear eye protection while cleaning your firearm? Many solvents are caustic and even a minuscule droplet can cause an irregular burn on the eye that is not repairable.
Do you know why wearing disposable gloves and/or properly cleaning up after handling shooting equipment is important? Lead contamination is a genuine issue and unless you enjoy chelation therapy to remove heavy metals from your system, you might want to know this information.
Do you know the difference between a clip and a magazine? If you do not know proper terminology, how do you expect to have an intelligent conversation regarding the subject?
Do you know how to select a firearm that fits you properly? If not, how do you expect to perform properly if using equipment that is less than optimal for you?
From being aimed in at a 5" target that is five yards away, can you place five hits on that target is less than five seconds? If you can't do that on demand, you do not possess the skill set for anything more demanding than a course that concentrates on fundamental skills.

Cost is $125 for the first student and $100 for each additional student.

Minors who participate with an adult will be charged $75 each. NOTE: One minor per adult.
